ranya & dave

what a pleasure to work with ranya and dave on their wedding day! ranya was a total trooper and hoofed it many blocks around the city for pictures with her heels on and never complained once, and dave was up for anything she wanted--- that is my kind of couple!

beautiful view...beautiful dress...beautiful girl...

i had to post this picture just to illustrate this strange phenomenon. in all the times i've shot in nyc, this has never happened. as the light changed and ranya and dave started crossing the street, the crowd had made what appeared to be a collective decision to let them cross by themselves. just as they finished crossing, the crowd on either side began to cross... quite the scene...

i'm always asked if the couple is 'real' when i'm shooting in nyc, but never as much as i was asked in rockefeller center-- yes, people, they are real!

here is my chance to talk about how sweet dave is. ranya is a lucky girl to have found a guy who loves her the way he does--- but i'm sure she already knows this. plus he totally kicks my ass with his 3 marathons under 30 with one kidney-- you win, dave!

if you know the right people you can hire a pigeon to fly right into your shot, perfectly placed...

ranya and dave had their ceremony and reception at the 3 west club...

ranya and dave met in children's publishing and so one of their readings was from one of their favorite children's book... love that!

when there is someone that i can't manage to get a smile out of and then i snag one.... i think 'gotcha' in my head as i get the shot...

ranya... a very graceful dancer....

it was a ridiculously warm night in october and so we couldn't resist heading out for a street shot...
...and even here, people were asking if they were real- i guess when you look that good people just don't believe you could be real! thanks to ranya and dave for being such a pleasure to work with, and thanks to david lim for shooting with me.

elece & michael

elece and michael were married on a blustery autumn day in new york city...

there are some people in life, that when you first meet, you feel as though you've known them for a long time...

bride in a cab...

i wish 'bluster' meant what i wanted it to mean because then i would say....'there is that bluster i mentioned...'-- but, in reality, that sentence would make no sense. but you get my point...

so much happy in this photo...

i was not prepared for elece and michael's ceremony, not because there was some tricky lighting or unexpected event, but because it was the most heartfelt, touching ceremony i have ever photographed. the officiant, unrelated to elece and michael, had to stop the ceremony to get a tissue herself...that is some powerful stuff.

ok, here is the part where i start to choke up.... any girl would gush over the words michael said to elece---you can just see how completely touched elece is by michael's words. so beautiful...

elece surprised michael and the guests with a clip from the movie 'up' that had been referenced in their vows. the first time i saw the sequence, i bawled. it was beautifully done and hit home. put this moving sequence together with elece and michael's vows and i'm a tearful mess. i could tell the guests were all moved. it was an incredible feeling in that room...

elece and michael had their wedding at astor center and some amazing food by the good knife

i wonder if this guy knows there are two people making out in his pocket?

ties... not only known for being used to create rambo-style headgear, but also for making impromptu limbo lines...

photo booth fun...
i look forward to spending more time with elece and michael in the future and watching their love blossom even more!
